Except for the last couple of years, due to the pandemic, WrestleMania weekend has been an event where thousands of people from all over the world would converge ton one city to partake in the festivities. Fans would swamp the city for a three-day event starting with the extravaganza leading to the next night with Monday Night Raw and taping of Friday Night Smackdown.
This year things are different as the event returns to full stadium capacity post-COVID-19 shut down as instead of a three-day event, it’s a four-day showcase. It all starts with a live Friday Night Smackdown at American Airlines Center, followed by the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in the same area that will be televised on Peacock Network. The inductees for the ceremony are Vader, Queen Sharmell, The Steiner Brothers, Shad Gaspard, the Warrior Award winner and the headliner, the over 30-year WWE veteran The Undertaker.
The next day WWE presents its NXT event Stand & Deliver in the same arena starting at noon on Peacock. NXT focuses on younger and fresher talent with high potential to be the next big thing on the higher stage in their professional careers. This card is highlighted with the main even being Bron Breaker (the son of Rick Steiner of the Steiner Brothers) vs. Dolph Ziggler (c) for the NXT Championship.
These shows precede the two-night spectacular WrestleMania XXXVIII live in Arlington, Texas, at AT&T Stadium. The shows will air both nights, starting with the WrestleMania Kickoff Show at 6 p.m. on Peacock, followed by the main show at 7 p.m. Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey will headline the first night, battling for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. Stone Cold Steve Austin will appear on the Kevin Owens Show and Seth Rollin is set to have a match vs. a mystery opponent. There is a lot of speculation on who this opponent will be, but you must tune in and see for yourself to be sure about it, so don’t fall for the smoking mirrors.
The second night’s main event will be WWE World Champion Brock Lesner vs. WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a title vs. title championship match. Also, on the card, former NFL punter and current WWE Smackdown commentator Pat McAfee will be facing Austin Theory, a young protégé to whom Vince McMahan has taken a liking. Also, Jackass star Johnny Knoxville will be facing Sami Zayne, which will likely ensure some craziness. Both nights are expected to have massive crowds in the stadium that seating capacity can fit over 100 thousand people.
The last night of the week will be Monday Night Raw in American Airlines Center. It has been traditionally a hot crowd the day after WrestleMania, and we expect that trend to continue. The Raw after WrestleMania is when we usually see unexpected debuts and stars return. Raw can be seen on the USA Network at 7 p.m. and is must see television but it’ll be competing directly against the NCAA National Championship Game.
